Simple Yet Effective

Smell Out the Bottle Blends

One of the most simplest and effective ways to get instant allergy relief with essential oils is to smell the fragrance right out of the bottle. Simply open the cap, take a whiff (or few) and feel the relief.

If you want, once you find the essential oils that work best for you, blend them together to make your own unique scent and remedy for allergy relief.

Steam Inhalation

Similar to smelling the scent out of the bottle, this method of allergy relief entails the benefit of steam. Add a few drops of your choice of essential oil to a bowl of hot water, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam to relieve nasal congestion.

Ultrasonic Diffusers

Ultrasonic diffusers combine water and essential oils to produce a fine mist, dispersing the aroma throughout the room. You will have complete control of what essential oils you want to add and the strength you want. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Nebulizing Diffusers

Nebulizing diffusers are one of my favorite ways to use essential oils for allergy relief or in general because it releases undiluted essential oils into the air. The fragrance is a bit more concentrated and more powerful, so please be sure to use precaution when using essential oils, you’re not used to. As usual, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Candles

If you take a step into my home, you will find a variety of candles everywhere in so many different scents. I absolutely love them and maybe you will too. There are several candles on the market that are infused with essential oils that are great for allergy relief. Not only will your home smell wonderful, it will also serve as a dual purpose.

Shower Steamers

A shower steamer, also known as a shower bomb or shower melt, is a small, concentrated disc made with essential oils and other ingredients that dissolves in the shower, releasing aromatic steam. It's a great way to enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy for allergy relief while taking a shower.

Room Sprays

A room spray for allergy relief is a simple and effective way to, not only freshen up your living space, but to also infuse the essential oils into the air to help you breathe better. Simply recipes call for water, essential oils, and optionally a carrier agent to help disperse the oils evenly.

Wax Melts

A safer alternative to candles are wax melts. They are essentially scented pieces of wax that are designed to be melted in a wax warmer where they release their fragrance into the air. These are absolutely fun to make and are very customizable. You can pick the fragrance and essential oils you want for allergy relief, and you can also get silicone molds to create fun shapes and designs.

Once they are created, pop the melts into a wax warmer and enjoy the relief and aromas.

Precautions and Safety

Even though essential oils are natural, some of us still may be allergic to some of them or even have smell sensitivities towards a few. Please take precaution when using essential oils and be sure to follow the instructions on the bottle.

Essential Oil Safety

All essential oils should be diluted with a carrier oil before being applied directly to the skin. Essential oils are highly concentrated and if applied directly to the skin may cause serious injury and even burns. Smelling them directly from the bottle is generally safe, but be sure to read the labels.
